15 Learnings from 2022

Episode Notes

  1. When something starts to click, double-down on it.

  2. Hosting a consistent event consistently can lead to unexpected benefits and momentum

  3. You never know which experiment lead to something more (e.g. my first podcast mixer event episode)

  4. "There's almost no downside to trusting yourself too much." - Seth Godin in The Practice

  5. In a world where people are more nomadic, there is benefit to living in the same place and making it known that you live there.

  6. Speakers wanting to speak at events, especially curated events… Summit, Podcast Mixers.

  7. The Summer in NYC is really magical with people really open to connecting, try to optimize for it

  8. Some relationships and friendships can be seasonal. When it’s in season or relatively active, lean into it. Similarly from 2021’s reflection, “invest into the relationships that invest into you”

  9. Experiment personally on things that you could use professionally

  10. Becoming a meaningful specific opens up unexpected opportunities and connection.

  11. Proximity is power… Being in the same group chat and/or Slack as someone can spark connection and relationships

  12. Good things happen when you leave your apartment. Lots of unexpected bump-ins.

  13. If you invite people to events, you will get invited to more events

  14. Invest into the skills and tech stack you regularly use (e.g. Nick Gray book, getting new computer, Sam Parr course)

  15. An email course is a great way to scale your knowledge and grow your email list
